Ultegra 6600 lever refinishing?

I recently picked up a 2008 Cervelo Soloist Team for my wife that had survived a shop fire. If you're interested in the condition of the bike, I posted about it here:

https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...1#post10219121

The Ultegra levers are really the worst looking part of the bike. From what I can understand the levers are aluminum with a clear coat over the top. I was wondering if anyone in this forum had any ideas on refinishing these levers are bringing them back to life a bit. My plan will be to try some mild auto polishes to see if they will take a bit of the clear off the top and leave them looking better. Any ideas?

just buff them. you will either take the top layer of clear off and be all set or you will need to strip all the clear coat off. either way the buffer will do it

Right you are. I see this quite often on group rides. Kinda scary.

You could try toothpaste on a bit of clean rag.
