front brake cable mounting
i want to put a longer stem/riser on my older mtn bike. now the brake cable routes thru the stem and down to the centerpull brakes. do i just need a bracket to mount to the fork neck that swivels with the front fork? is this bracket fairly easy to find?

Headset cable hanger. Not familiar with that shop. Might need a 1" if your MTB is really olde. If your stem is really low, you might need a noodle, too.

does it go on the bottom of the headtube nearest the fork or on the top? it is a rigid fork.

It goes up top, just like a spacer. Hopefully you currently have that much spacer under your stem (if threadless) or under your headset nut (if threaded).
Rigid fork doesn't matter as much as:
1. diameter of fork steerer tube
2. how much room stackwise you have on your fork's steerer tube.
If you've a threaded fork and it's 1", luckily Dimension makes a much slimmer hanger.
