Nexus Inter-7 SG7R46 Hub - Joint Fixing Ring Comes Loose
After I install my Cassette Joint to the Hub by turning the Fixing Ring clockwise 45 degrees, everything works OK.
After a while (lots of shifting), however, the fixing ring manages to come loose, which results in the cassette joint becoming detached, and I end up driving the bike home in first gear.
Is anyone familiar with this problem and/or know how to fix it it?

Hi welcome to the forums. I have a Nexus 8 and while I don't have many miles on it I never had any issues like this.

Bikes: I never learned to ride a bike. It is my deepest shame.

I have had this happen on my Alfine hub (same cassette joint and fixing ring as Nexus Inter 8). I believe the problem on my bike was caused by grit and contamination causing friction between the fixing ring and the moving parts of the cassette joint. I disassembled, cleaned, applied a few drops of oil, and reassembled my cassette joint assembly and I have not had a problem since. However, I have not ridden the bike as much since the repair due to winter, so it might just be waiting for more riding to fail again.

Thanks for the replies. The Joint Fixing Ring seems to be made of something other than metal and may be worn. I put some aluminum foil behind it to make it extra tight when rotated 45 degrees to the right. If that doesn't work, I will try LarDasse74 suggestion and clean and lube. I also ordered a new joint and ring (CJ-NX10) from Amazon just in case other solutions don't work.
