Cable guide solution
Hey all,
I just put an older Cannondale touring bike together with a friend of mine and we had the same problem with unusable cable guides on the top tube.
I have been using Shapeways to 3d print different odds and ends for little projects. This kind of tiny plastic piece is the perfect thing to have 3d printed - so I drew it up and ordered three of them. They should show up in about two weeks and I will find out if they work like I plan. If they do, it will be easy for anybody who wants them to order them from Shapeways - I think it will be around $10 for three of them. If they are a bit off, I will adjust them so that they work, it should be a good solution.
If there are any other little plastic bits like this, I might be willing to draw up the parts in CAD so that they can be ordered through Shapeways.
Here's to keeping good bikes on the road!

Did anyone follow through with these CAD'd guides? I have been looking everywhere for the pins!
Just a heads up that there is an ebay auction going right now for the guide... just no pins!! UGH!!
