Any problem with 6700 STI Shifters and 5700 FD?

I've read one or two comments around the web that say Ultegra brifters shouldn't be used with anything but Ultegra or Dura-Ace Front Derailleurs -- as in not with 105 FDs. But then I've read that this is not so, or not so any longer. Huh??

Does any one here have some definitive knowledge on this question?

creativepart, To the sound of screeching tires on my plan to use the 6700 shifters with my present 8s 600 derailleurs, I'd like to know also. The only non conformity road group issue I was aware of is the 8S D-A RD.

I'll just piggy back here if you don't mind.

Brad, I think your problem will be 10-speed shifters with an 8 speed RD. I don't know how you'd make that work.

Can't see it being an issue. I'm running 105 FD (5600) w/ Ultegra brifters (6600) and they work great. As for the 8 speed RD, the indexing is in the shifter so it shouldn't be an issue.

Having done 1000km in the last 2 weeks with 6700 STI, and 5700 front and rear derailuers, I have had no issues with compatibility, perfect shifting all round.

The shifting feels better than when I was using 6700 STI and 7800 front and rear derailuers on the same bike.
