Installing a freehub wheel
Hello all
I don't know if anyone has asked this before or if it's been talked about, so sorry if I didn't search properly. I have a trek soho s and believe it or not I'd like to install a 8 or 9 spd freehub wheel. I'd like to know if the rear derailleur would take care of any alignment issues, and does the soho s have the ability to have a derailleur installed? Also, I've sourced a freehub wheel, cassette, derailleur, and shifter. Will I need anything else other than cables to put this all together?
Thanks

You need a derailer hanger, which your frame doesn't have. It might be possible to mount a derailer to your rear axle using an adapter claw, but I'm not sure how that would work with the track ends. Also, your frame doesn't have provisions for shift cables.
Best to sell your bike and buy a geared one, if that's what you want. No matter how you do this, it will be a poor setup. IF you can get it to work.
