Crank Puller for Nervar
What type/brand/etc. of crank puller can I use to remove a Nervar (French) crank? Thanks.

I've never pulled a crank before. Is just yanking it off the spindle a possibility?

perhaps rather than buy the tool and screw up the job ,
some advantage to a Bike shop doing the work.

Is it physically possible to somewhat easily overcome any galling of the crank/spindle interface by just yanking the crank (huh huh, he said yanking the crank) off the spindle, with the understanding that one or both of the parts might be damaged?
Guess it's time to go back dragging my knuckles and drooling.

You would have a helluvatime yanking the cranks off by hand. You can possibly tap them off with hammer and piece of pipe but it will most likely deform/destroy the crank arms.
Another method would be to use a forked tie-rod separator type tool and hammer...but you will need to be careful not to damage the frame.
The 2 best ways would be to acquire the correct puller tool to thread into the crank arm or find a good shop that has one and pay the small cost to have it done (most likely $5-$10).

Nervar uses a 14mm fixing bolt and bog-standard 22.0mm x 1.0mm extractor threads.

You have to understand fietsbob.
First he gives advice that factually correct but in such a cryptic manner, uses such tortured phrasing or is so far out of the realm of usefulness that it's often not at all helpful.

If you are not going to re install the crank why own the tool?
the service of a couple bucks. will be cheaper than the tool.
