Thanks for the patronizing - it really helped answer my question. I understand that it may damage the crank, and, a lot less likely, the spindle. If I do this it would be because I'm replacing a crank with an archaic BCD and I can't replace my chain rings, so the BB would go in the circular file as well. Let me rephrase my question...
Is it physically possible to somewhat easily overcome any galling of the crank/spindle interface by just yanking the crank (huh huh, he said yanking the crank) off the spindle, with the understanding that one or both of the parts might be damaged?
Guess it's time to go back dragging my knuckles and drooling.
