Shimano 600 STI Levers
Hey-
I just came across a pair of Shimano 600 STI levers in near-mint condition. Thinking of using them on a bike build, but with only the brifters I'm concerned with comparability with currently available components (Derailleurs, cranks, cassettes, etc.). The brifters are 8-speed index, sorry I can't give more specifics.
Thanks.

You will obviously need an 8-speed cassette and chain. Unless it's a pre-9-speed Dura Ace or new 10-speed MTB version, almost any Shimano rear derailleur will work fine with them. Those brifters were double OR triple compatible, but not both, so depending on which model you have the cranks have to match but almost any suitable crank will work. You may need to find a matching front derailleur but try your current one (whatever it is) first.

Use them with 8 speed Shimano 600 Tricolor components- bombproof, out there, easily located. They'll work with anything Shimano (105, Ultegra, later Dura Ace) in an 8-speed configuration but why bother when 6400 series stuff is available?

+1 They will work with a lot of Shimano groups. I am using my 8 speed 600 STI with nine speed Ultegra bits. I should just pull out my tricolor components instead, but I had the nine speed Ultegra parts handy at the time.
