Specialized Hardrock 26x2 rims?

Ok, so

I got a bike from a friend after he took a pretty decent crash on it, everything is fine except the rims are pretty much garbage.

I beleive the hubs are fine on both, could anyone point me to replacement rims for a decent price for this bike? if they are cheap enough complete rims would be nice, otherwise i can pull the hubs out of these and have someone lace them, or do it myself if it isnt too hard.

Thanks!!

There are a lot of rims that would be the right size to install on the bike. Don't assume that the spokes will be able to reuse, condition and length... But also know that the parts to rebuild on the old hubs will likely cost more then basic prebuilt wheels. This is the time to establish a relationship with a shop to either get the replacement wheels from or the rims and spokes (and fall back on the shop to complete the wheel builds). Andy.

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

Unless the hubs are top quality and worth salvaging you'll be able to buy decent quality wheels for about the same price as rims and spokes. If you can or and plan to build the wheels yourself, it's close to break even, but if you have to pay a builder, then rims + spokes + labor almost always costs more than a comparable wheel.

BTW- To clarify, the rim is the hoop between the spokes and tire. When it's laced onto a hub with the spokes, the assembly is a wheel.

So search bicycle wheels to get a sense of what's out there at what price.

This is about as good a deal as you can find for complete wheels: https://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product...62_-1___202477
Given the cost of decent rims and spokes and the labor of having them built (not that I'm discouraging you from learning how), this is a killer deal.

I'm 99% certain they will fit your bike. Mountain bike wheels are somewhat standard, and those Nashbar wheels work with caliper or disk brakes and are standard width.

FWIW: I bought a set of those wheels a few years back and they're still working fine. I'm not small, either: 6-foot-4, 220 pounds.

No... not much at least. If your tires were very wide it might make a difference, but if they are the stock tires you will have no issues.

2" rims? are you sure that's not the tire size? the rims on a mountain bike like a Hardrock are rarely much over 25-30mm wide. you can put a 2.25" tire on that easy.
