Rivnuts replacement on Trek 5000

I am going to attempt replacing the bottle cage rivnuts on a Trek 5000 this weekend.

If I grind off the ones on the seat tube, the inner piece can be removed by taking out the seat post.

Does anyone know if the down tube is open to the bottom bracket so it can be removed from there ?

Thanks,

L

Probably..

you might also use the Riv-nut, it self and further tighten it, and expand it more, in the hole ..
