what size headset wrench?

To service my 1" threaded headset? I thought it was just the 32/36

Park Tool Co. » HCW-15 : Headset Wrench : Headset

But then I noticed some different sized headset wrenches.

Differs from brand to brand of headset.

Measure the upper race size and the lock nut size and buy wrenches to fit. It usually takes two different size wrenches, but sometimes you need two of the same size. The most common sizes are between 32mm up to 36mm (but I've seen as small as 30mm).

I have three or four different double-ended headset wrenches, and I still end up going to my regular auto wrenches for odd size headsets sometimes.

Generally A 32 for 1" a 36 for 1.125"

my CK Grip nut 9/8" took 2_40's

a thing to do is actually buy a measuring caliper first ..

I use 12" Crescent for the lock nut.

For the cone/cup I got one of these 30/32/36/40 headset wrenches just to cover most that I encounter.

...if you're gonna do much of this kind of work, you need to be able to measure things.

In this case, either a straight edge that measures mm or a cheap plastic vernier caliper that does so is a worthy investment.
You measure these nuts across, from one flat to the opposite side.
