Going to do my first ride...Tour De Tifton
Haven't been riding for long and have never done an "organized" ride. I'm going to do the beginner's 12 mile ride. I just hope I'm not the laughing stock with my regular clothes and Wal Mart bike. It's for a good charity, though, and I don't care. I want to do it. It benefits the YMCA and after school programs for kids.
Anybody in the Southwest Georgia area, here's the link to the YMCA webpage with sign-up info.

My guess is the person with cycling specific clothes will be the one out of place on the route you will be taking. If there is a century ride you would be the one out of place.

Thanks all. I may even step up and do the 25 mile one. I have a month to train and can do 12 right now pretty easy. We'll see. Can't wait!

Just an update- it was this morning. We had over 100 riders total- the majority of them doing the 25 mile and up races. I did the beginner's 12 mile race, along with about 10 others. I came in first with a time of 51 minutes. I think I did well for my first organized ride and had a lot of fun. No stupid dogs, not much traffic and a nice cool morning. I can see how this can get addicting. :-)

Riding is great. The Tifton area should be good for pleasure riding or exercise. Ditch that heavy walmart bike and you could have done that 12 mile ride in 40 minutes or less with the same effort.
