Vallue of '81 Nishiki Marina
Pretty bike, great shape, new tubes, cables, gel saddle, lubed, adjusted and all that good stuff. DOB: 1/81 (which makes it one of the earliest in this 2 year only model bike). Pearl white (think Audi car color) with maroon accents including maroon cable housing. Just a couple of superficial scratches, needs a wax job, tiny size (19 inch), the chrome is in awesome shape.
Suntour 7 (that's right below V, correct?), a three piece crank and some really cool lugs that pop out with the color schema.
Can anyone convince me that this high-ten, turkey wing, stem shifter, steel wheel (front with QR), dork disk wonder is worth more than a (let's say) Varsity or Record?

If I had to choose between the Marina and a Varsity, give me the Varsity for nostalgia sake. Plus the paint on those old Schwinns are much prettier than most bikes in this class.
If you are buying, don't pay more than $75. If you are selling, ask $130 but be willing to take $115.

E, I had the same model, but in very rough condition. Being a Nishiki freak I'm quite biased, but the Marina is strictly entry level. Hi-ten steel, chrome wheels and so on. But yours is in very nice condition and it's a small frame. If you're selling, I'd not go higher than $100 because of the chrome rims. If you're buying to flip, I'd keep it low, maybe $50 tops.

I would be tempted to swap out the steel rims. With the small size, and alloy rims, you might be able to move it up to the $175 mark (dump the dork disk). Cleaned up, but with the current steel rims, about $125. Small size helps quite a bit. Values are all after full rehab: cables, tires, tubes, bearings, grease I would reuse the housings if at all possible, as they are a nice color on that bike.
I used to always dump turkey levers as well, but at that price level, many recreational riders prefer them. If it had a lighter weight cromoly frame, then some down tube shifters and aerolevers would be a nice upgrade.
In as found condition, $50 market value.

In as pictured condition I wouldn't pay more than $75 for that bike. That is a low end Nishiki with none of the nice chrome stays and drop outs seen on their other models.
