hard to tell from those pics and no specs. looks real small does it fit? is the group 105 or 'Light Action'?

I would pay $100 maybe $150 as the frame could be damaged from that seat post being so high.

Tiny frame. Be good for someone just over 5' tall.

Its a Sport DLX, towards the lower end of the product line, but not a bad bike. +1 You need to be around 5-2 for this bike.

Appears to be in "project" condition, maybe slightly better than that. It will need basic cleanup, assume it will need new cables, housings, bearings, grease, bar tape. If you can do the work yourself, $125. If you have to pay a shop to do the work, I would pass.

Decent small frame vintage road bikes sell for a premium, so if you need something small, I would give this one a close look.

$100 is a good price, as long as there is no significant frame damage. Expect to put around $50 into the bike when you get it, depending on who does the work. But then, for $150, you will have a really nice bike!

Its about 10X as good as the bike I rode in college.

I am a little curious you guys keep talking about frame damage. Why would the seat being raised cause much frame damage? easy to wobble around? Just curious I know its an obvious newb question I know.. Lol

If the seatpost has been raised beyond the max line, all that body weight pushing on that small an overlap of tubing can cause it to bend or crack.
The photos make it pretty obvious that the bike is too small for the person who's been riding it, and they've raised the seatpost and stem very high to try and compensate. Dangerous and wrong thing to do.

which bike is better is personal preferance. if your a French bike guy and true C&Vr the Peugeot with the friction and Hurrette (?) deraileurs would be more apealing than a japanese shimano equipped bike.

one important thing to point out here is the the frames are two different sizes. how tall are you? if you are petite the Centurion is a better fit. if you are 5'7' or so the Peugeot may fit better.

If they were close and I could have both for 100 each I would take them. I can put a bit of effort into the Centurion cleaning and tuning it and maybe resell it for few $$$. (like maybe 30 profit if that) or take the indexing shimano off and put it on the Peugeot.

+1 Two difference sized bikes. If it is for you, get the one that fits (both of them will not fit you, for sure!!)

As far as what is it? Look at the on line catalogs.

I bought the peugeot because as you guys have said the other bike wasn't my size.. I am 5'10 and there was no way for me to fit on that other bike without hurting the frame.. So I took the bike into my local bike shop to see if he thought I got an alright deal or not. After his inspection he told me that the brake lines needed replaced (which I concluded myself lol) and that the bearing had blown in the bottom bracket ( I don't know if this is the right name or not its where the pedals go into the frame.. I assume there are ball bearings in there?) He took off the chain and showed me why he concluded this.. he tried pushing the pedals around and they would stop immediately after pushing them..

So how expensive of a fix is this going to be? Is there anyway for me to find something online and maybe cut some of the costs by doing this myself with parts that aren't brand new? How tough of a job would this be? Im am mechanically inclined just not on bicycles lol.. Just wanting to avoid a headache if its going to be horrible to try myself... For starters I guess I need to know the part Im looking for!

also the hoods (I believe that's what they are called.. the covers for the brakes) are cracked and need replaced.. So how do I go about finding replacements for that?

nice score. that peugeot looks real nice. is that a SR crankset? overhauling the current BB is probably about $20 or so, it could be all it needs is a good cleaning and new grease. a new Shimano cartridge BB would be about 40 -50 depending what the labor charge is.

look on ebay for your brake hoods. it may be cheaper to just buy new levers and take the hoods off them https://cgi.ebay.com/NOS-vintage-Wein...g_bikeparts_SR

I have also been thinking of getting a new seat and re taping any ideas on color scheme? I have a few but its kind of a funky colors to me makes it difficult to think of things to do!

SR is a brand of crankset, like Shimano, TA, Sugino. if it is SR it means a standard Japanese BB will fit the crank arms.

as for the hood not any hood will fit you need to look on ebay for weinmann hoods. I think some Dia Compe brand may fit but I am not sure hopefully someone else will tell us.

as far as the seat and bars go; I would leave the seat for now, a new white one may be pricy (actually IMHO all new seats are pricy) but for the tape I think red to match the bottlecages and also the pedals.

depending on the model of lever these may fit. https://www.loosescrews.com/index.cgi...&id=6198947608

I think one of the members here has a real nice Peugeot site hopefully someone can direct you to it. you can look the bike up in the catalog to see the brake model

just a thought. since you bought the bike and now need help with the hoods and few other things, start a new thread in the C&V or mechanics thread.

just state that you just purchased it and are in the process of cleaning and tuning. ask if anyone knows which hoods will fit. then post a pic of the bike and the brake lever and link to this thread for all the other details about the BB and such.
