I don't have a good sense or feel for the more modern Paramount bikes...my knowledge base is more European, Japanese and small custom. What is a fair price range for this? I love the paint job, but think many/most would find it off putting. Any idea on the tubing? Reffered to as OS and I'm assuming 753? What is the reputation of Waterford in this time period?
Just appearance wise, I like this a LOT.

Looks like a waterford (w in serial #) OS, a lot like mine except for color and graphics. Mine is true temper according to the '89 catalog, or maybe columbus? not sure.

Any sense on the value or Waterford's quality level at that time?

I would say ebay value would be around $5 - $800, depending on condition, parts, color, etc. I think the quality should be very good, I have never heard of anything waterford built that wasn't.
Here's mine, fwiw:

Thanks for the input. I offered $600 originally, he countered at 800...and it's tempting. At the same time, I really don't need another bike and really only like the color and the fact that it's a Waterford. I recountered 650...and I think that's about where I can go.

$650 is a fair offer for all involved. This bike is not worth the $1000 price tag IMHO.

Thanks all. I think I'd do 700, but he's hard at 800. I like it, but there are a lot of bikes I like. I'm certainly not desperate and really only have an interest at going for very good buys. I'll wait a week or two and see if the buyer moves. Another member suggested that it's likely a repaint, and that also changes the dynamic (though I do LOVE the current scheme).

The paint scheme is 1990, and since the serial number of the bike is December, 1989, it might have been given a 1990 paint job at the factory. IOW, the paint may, in fact, be original.
Here's the 1990 paint scheme:

Scooper...very interesting. I absolutely love the green and it's nice knowing it might be original.
Odin...thanks...I do think the one I'm looking at is a good bit nicer than that, but probably not $230 nicer.
I think I'm going to hang tight and just see what happens. I know I've seen it up on ebay before and the seller is clearly being optimistic. If I needed a bike, I'd buy it...but I have so many, it's a luxury and I can afford to be patient. I would like a Paramount, but my ideal would be a Kool Lemon and 20 years older.
