I just picked two of these off the curb along with a couple of kid size Schwinn Varsity's. The ladies bike I think is pretty much toast, lots of rust. But the mens bike is in pretty good shape. There's some pretty unusual hardware on the these. Sheldon Brown wasn't very complimentary of the bike builder so I don't know if restoration is worth it. Is any of this old hardware or any of these old components worth saving?

The BB shell looks interesting (but might be just formed and welded sheet steel), but the rear stay cluster at the dropouts scream low buck bike as they are crimped and spot welded to stamped steel dropouts. The wingnuts and cottered cranks do date this bike to maybe the 60's, so it's pretty old, other than that, only rarity or sentimental value might make it worth throwing money at for a restoration, otherwise, if the cost can be kept at a minimum with the most basic low cost replacement parts, it might be worth just fixing it to get it back on the road as a beater or campus bike.

Not worth it, good donation.

C. Itoh was the USA distributor for Kabuki (Bridgestone) and offered their own line manufactured by Bridgestone. The BB shell is a cast Bridgestone unit. The wingnuts indicate it's pre-CPSC but probably not by much based on the shell. Based on the aforementioned crimped and spot welded stay ends this is a bottom of the barrel model.
