1972 Masi Gran Criterium Repaint/modified
I guess this has been upgraded, with internal routing for the rear brake, and at least new cranks and pedals, and probably derailleurs. A 7-speed hub has been put on. The Masi pantographed seatpost and big ring are still there.
It is of course a repaint.
Should I sell it as a bare frame and fork, include just the cool pantographed parts, or the whole shebang?

wow...that is why one should not repaint...im thinking those are twin plate forks as well...to make this right..one would pay big bucks...re chrome...repaint etc by a really good craftsman. internal cabling..cant do much to correct that...i dont know...the frame and fork the way it is..maybe 250.00?? The group? probably to the right buyer 5-600.00

Drop the fork. No BB image, socket window style and any stampings are needed.
Image "within" the main triangle of the frame looking at the seat lug. As you did on the other Carlsbad bike.
Very unfortunate repaint, but you know that.
It would be very tempting to sell the chainring and seat post a la carte… but that would increase the interest of the whole.
Frame modifications really hurt.

This bike belonged to Fritz Pfenninger, 6-day master from Zürich. The old guy I bought it from received it from Fritz as payment for installing astro-turf on the patio of Fritz's restaraunt in Zürich. More here: Fritz Pfenninger
Frame and fork stamped with S56. What does the 'S' indicate (Special?).
Internal routing is very nicely done, and the braze-on cable-guides as well. Paint job is mediocre at best. Not sure of the status of the fork chrome, I'll strip the print off it when I get the chance.
Cranks are 1973, rear derailleur is 1974, big ring is a bit scratched, seatpost is perfect. Original Cinelli bars and stem. Headset and BB are replacement Nuovo Record. Front wheel original Martano rim with 32 soldered spokes, rear is replacement 36 hole Weinemann. Brakes are original, hoods need replacing.
All in all a lot of work, just what I don't need!

Unfortunately the internal cable routing really pulls back the value, no matter how well it was done. The braze one downtube shift bosses are okay, but probably not original. S does not stand for special. In general the prefix in front of the size stamp indicates the subcontractor. Having the S on the steerer points to the fork built by the contractor, no all subs made forks. No idea who the S represents. If you are polite about it ask Bob Hovey.
It appears the fork chrome is toast.
