"Vintage Steel Chromed Italian..." on CL (Benotto ????)

Hi all,

Here's a semi-local (Santa Fe) CL listing for a "Vintage Steel Chromed Italian race bike." Anything particularly interesting or valuable about this one? Seller doesn't list the make or year, and the only thing I can make out is "Benotto" on the stem. Feel free to contribute to my bicycle education...

STP

Is it the right size? The dent in the top tube would always cause me concern...I simply do not like dents...you do not know what might have happened to cause it. That being said, if you ride it and like it...with that component group...hmmm...would negotiate it down a bit...play up the dent...but...otherwise, all about ride...and fit...

I'm super un-excited by a seller who covers up a dent with tape. I'd pass in any case on a bike with a dent. There are other fish in the sea.

The tape is strategically placed exactly where damage from a front end impact shows up. The placement is too goofy to be any kind of "design element".

Insist on having the tape removed before purchasing.

I'd also like to see a picture of the badge on the head tube. IT looks to me like thats a deliberate attempt to not show that, and with the Benotto stem my guess is the seller is trying to imply that its Benotto, and not showing anything that might dispute that. MIght be a nice bike but its difficult to tell its heritage from what provided. I think I might be tempted to look at it, make a lower offer.
