Elgin twin bar 2-speed model 502
Hello, I am new to the forum. We came across what I believe to be an Elgin twin bar 2-speed in relatively good condition. There are no hand grips or tires but everything else is on it and functional. Just started to do some research and came across this site. I'm wondering if anyone on here can give some ideas on what this bicycle is worth? The number on the seat clamp show 502-127 if that helps any.
Thanks

I agree interesting machine. Is there a date on the rear hub?

I did not look. Is it just stamped on the cylindrical part of the rear hub or on the spoke flange? It will probably be a week or so before I get back to it. I can take better pictures then. I know my Uncle bought it and that my Mom rode it when she was a kid (born 1929) so I'm guessing late 1930's early 1940's (might be earlier as my Mom mentioned her older sisters using it as well). I've been searching the web and have not found one like this with the 2-speed shifter (located on top right twin tube, hard to see in pictures) but I did see it in some old scans of the ads from the day.
I also think this bike would ride quite nice once a set of tires are put on as everything looks great.
Thanks.

After looking online, I see that this bike was only made between 1938
and 1941/2. Hopefully there is stamp somewhere with date. If the 502-127
on the seat clamp is the serial number it seems fairly early in production.
