1988 Univega VivaTech 1050
So I am new to cycling and on a budget (I'm sure you have heard this a million times). I found a '88 Univega VivaTech 1050. Assuming, it is in good shape, would this be good to start on and learn to ride better until I can save up money to buy a newer bike? Is it worth $150?

Vintage (1988) Men's UNIVEGA VivaTech 1050 Road Bike. Great condition. Fast and really smooth. Approx. 57cm or 22.5 inches measuring from the center of the crank to the top of the seat post frame. 12-speed. Lightweight aluminum. Shimano 105 group. 700c quick release tires. $150

With "quick release tires" I could get rid of my collection of Tire Levers. Looks like a decent Bike if you want an aluminum Frame 150$ seems more than fair if it fits...

The seat is hideous but for $150 I'd definitely be interested in checking it out.

I'm 5'11, so I think it will fit (hopeful at least). Going to look at it tomorrow. Guy said he would take $125. I figured it would be a better bike than most that I can get with my budget.
Does anybody know anything else about these bikes? I've tried to look it up, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of information out there.

The bike looks decent for the price understand it will likely need a new seat tires and some service so you can save quit bit if you can do the stuff yourself. If everything was great on the bike and wheels matched you would likely have to pay around $250-300 so if you can live with mismatched wheels and do some work yourself this would make a fine starter bike.

Still learning
I usually measure center of crank to center of horizontal tube. That is a 56cm, a tad small IMHO for a 5'11 rider. You'd be more comfy on a 58cm.

The bike is awesome! Thanks for the help guys! It isn't perfect, but definitely accomplishes what I currently need and fits very well.

A $125 bike will full 105 is a nice score! I like a happy ending.

Looks like 105 1050. Same group that came on the 1988 Trek 1000 that I bought and fixed up for my oldest son last year. 6-speed freewheel, sidepull single pivot brake calipers, and biopace chainrings. I changed the brakes to RX100 dual pivots before giving him the bike. And he's riding it.
