Schwinn Traveler III

Came across a restored Traveler III on CL today, I don't really have any information on the bike. The year it's made, quality of frame, etc. so I came here looking for a little bit of information. And to ask the obligatory, is the price right?

No, I wouldn't pay 1/4 that. Hi-ten frame, steel wheels, turkey levers, stem shifters. Keep looking, you can do much better for $180.

It's tough looking for bikes on a budget on CL without thorough bike pricing knowledge. I was wondering if anybody here could help me out with the pricing of this dealer, the bikes are ready and appear to be in good condition, but seeing as my knowledge of bikes is as deep as a puddle, I was wondering if anybody could tell me if the pricings seem alright.

where are you? The prices do not seem to be ridiculously high, but just a tad high. (The Huskie, has a fair price, btw.) And these bikes look very clean.

(just saw that CL posting you refered earlier... so I assume you are in OC. If you are in the Disneyland side of the OC, these are great prices, if you are around Riverside, they are fair)

I'm about a 20 minute drive to disneyland; if I recall correctly the SoCal bike market is pretty darn expensive. The only trouble is finding a small enough bike that's complete and clean because I'm terrible with a wrench. Truing a wheel is about as technical as I can get.

And also I'm going to the swap meet later today, maybe I'll go and look at some bikes who knows. I just wish I could bring along one of you guys to tell me what to buy buy buy.

Are you within driving distance to Miamijim? If yes, you should consider asking him what he has for sale. A good bike flipper, like Jim, will grease, tune and repair a bike before selling it. Yes, you pay for that service, but many of them, myself included, stand behind the bikes they sell.

Not sure what swap meet you are going to but I don't see any deals there on complete bikes. Not at Orange Coast College anyway. Those folks are looking for a profit.
Mostly low end bikes that are overpriced and a few nicer overpriced bikes and most of them need some work. I go there for the $4 plastic pedals and got some Dura Ace brakes once for $25.

The HB bike shop has been around for a good while. The good part is you might go there and have a choice of bikes but IMO if you have the time to troll CL you will find a better deal since he is also trying to make a profit and not just empty out his garage.

I understand trying to find a quality bike in ready to ride condition that is small enough for you. When I sell 48-52cm bikes they go quickly and the seller usually says, "I have been looking for a nice bike in my size for a while now". Be patient and you will find one.

Miamijim? Never heard of him a quick google search came up empty. And yeah the swapmeet was a bit of a bust but, got a stash of $3 2gb USB sticks now, so it wasn't all bad.

I'm interested in this miamijim, can you provide a little more information?
*Edit*
Found him. Turns out he's down by Florida, I'm over here in sunny Southern California not at all within driving distance . I'll just wait for that perfect craigslisting to come around, phew.
