Miyata experts -- Is this Miyata really a 712?

The following CL advertisement offers a Miyata 712 for $55, which would seem to be a good deal :

https://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/bik/2019321238.html

But the color of the bike in the photo, plus the font of the Miyata decal, seem to indicate a 710 from the early 80's, as shown in this 1981 Miyata catalog:

https://www.miyatacatalogs.com/2007/1...alog-1981.html

Which is it, and is it worth $55? I think yes, but I don't know much about Miyatas.

+1, its a 1981 Miyata 710. Lots of people erroneously assume that if it's got 12 speeds, it's an x12 model.

If the bike fits I would say this is well worth $55. I sold an 84 710 in Boston this summer for more than four times that (granted - all original, fully refurbished and in good condition) and the buyer was happy as a clam. If it had fit I would have kept it. It rides very nicely.

Thanks, guys, that is very helpful. The bike doesn't look to fit me, and I was thinking of it as a flip anyway.
