Going to check out this old Jeunet. Things to look for?

After being captivated by the ride of my Motobecane I decided I'd go take a look at a fairly rough shape Jeunet this afternoon. The owner of it seems like a stand up guy who doesn't ride much anymore and isn't asking much.

The photos are terrible but it doesn't appear to be anything 'high-end' (stamped DO's) but the components aren't the plastic simplex. Any chance the frame is 531?

Worth checking out? I wouldn't be looking to flip it, probably make it into a bit of an all around bike for my little brother.

Thanks all.

What is the seller asking? Those photos are lousy but that can work to your advantage. Looks like it has Mafac racer breaks, pivo stem? the drive train looks like simplex and the shifters are the plastic simplex ones. Paint looks like it has some issues on the top tube. I would buy it for around $50... put new tires tubes, cables, bar tape and flip it for around $165. I doubt the frame is 531 but maybe someone who know french bikes more can speak to that.

Seller is indeed asking 50 and after some poking around I'm THINKING it's a 'Model 620' (lowest end). Not sure if it's going to be worth the effort , cotterd cranks and all that. Plus winter is coming...

Yes there is a lot of work to be done on this bike and in the end you have a decent riding bike but nothing special. I flip bikes so I pick this stuff up all the time. Cotterd cranks are a pain. If the seller is asking $50 see if he will take $35... if you have the room you can't loose at that price point.

Cottered cranks aren't always a pain, the last few I've worked on were a breeze.

Of course I also had a run there where I had issues with almost every one, you just never know.
