You got a Zunow for $275 shipped. SCORE!
A bit of maintenance, some elbow grease and you have an outstanding bike. It is going to start conversations when you ride it if anyone is at all knowledgeable about classic bikes.

After reading that I promptly moved it to carpet and turned it over. I think the first thing I need to do is take all the components off and give it a thorough cleaning. There are 2 rust spots that I need to address quickly. Looks like I get to learn how to build bicycles now. Atleast thats one good thing coming out of my mistake of buying it sight unseen.
But, like somebody else said, don't be in rush to spend on something unseen. Also, $100 for shipping. Wow!!
Luck to you,

Johnsoee,
You got a crappy deal compared to the the college student I met parking his Alex Singer in the bike corral at the local state U. He said his sponsor gave it to him!
Seriously, you should thank your friend for getting you into cycling with such a high-caliber, unique road bike. Ride it with pride!

A bike I bought came with a wheelset that had Specialized hubs. Apparently they were quite the thing in the late 80s. Top quality but made by Sansin in Japan so still affordable. Quality of finish on the ones I have is excellent. Whoever put that bike together was not spending top dollar but was making good choices. And look up the name Zunow---though some hate the paint jobs, it's a very highly regarded and fairly rare bike. You definitely did just great.

I love late Eighties Japanese bikes, as do a lot of people. Zunows were some of the best examples of that era. Clean it up and ride it like you stole it, because you did.

If the frame fits you, you have a superb road bike, and you got it for a great price. Disassemble it and clean and lube all the parts. Put on new tires and you are good to go!

To the OP, I would have happily paid twice what you paid for a Zunow in my size.

You done good! Either pay someone to completely overhaul, or take care of it yourself. It should ride like a dream.

How did I miss this? That is one sexxy late '80s bike! I can't wait to see it fluffed and buffed with some new tires and white bartape cruising down the road?
Your in the AirForce? Navy? Either way.....THANK YOU!!! for your service and dedication!!

Yah, that will be a beauty when cleaned up. Post it over in the main C&V forum when you've fixed it up - there will be drooling.

Wow! looks like a nice ride! Shimano 105 (1050 looks like) was a decent group from the 80's. I would say the paint scheme dates this bike to the 80's as well

Most folks who buy a bike site unseen, not knowing the make or model wind up with a Schwinn World, gas pipe bike with steel wheels. You won the bike lottery. Please take care of that classic.
