1986 Bridgestone 700 - how much should I pay

These are the only photos that were available, bike ridden some in 1987, sitting in garage since. Tires dry rotted. Has manuals with it.

Decent road bikes like that around here start at $150 CL asking price. That bike would probably be listed for more than that in New Haven. Full CrMo? I'd be happy paying $160 for it near Philly, even if it needed new tires.

Asking price I have now learned is $200.00. Triple butted tubes, forks and stays. Have not been in its' presence yet, I am assuming good condition.

I would certainly barter for it.........but that's not out of line for a keeper that fits

$200 is definitely fair. $300-$350 would be pushing things, even if it fit perfectly and was your favorite brand/geometry/etc.... But that's what nicer CrMo bikes sometimes get listed for.

Barter a bit, but pick it up if you like it.

Thanks for your input and rOckhOunds, you have now given me the green light to complete the deal and tell my wife I have it on good authority that I got a deal. Don't know how I will answer her on why I "need" a fourth bike!

I could go $150 on it as a keeper. $200 would more more than reasonable if it was ready to ride, but it's so far from that. It will take hours of work to make this bike road worthy again.

The chain looks a little stiff. It's listed on ebay, no bids, but $75 won't do it. Closed ebay sales up to $250.
