1978 Schwinn Super LeTour 12.2 chrome frame

Thinking of grabbing this frame...
1978 Schwinn Super LeTour 12.2: Double-butted 4130
Frame is in amazing condition, no dings, dents, rust, or pitting.
The seller is asking for $80-
What's the value on this as described in the quote? I was thinking of doing a slow build with this one, kinda on the back burner type of thing. Pic attached. Thanks!

Do these have standard size bottom brackets for a 3 piece crankset?

For $80, I'd snap it up. Double-butted 4130 top tube and downtube, butted 4130 seat tube, 1020 carbon steel fork and stays. BB shell is standard English thread.

I'm not sure what size stem it takes. The fork steerer may take a 21.1mm stem.

Checking the Parts & Accessories catalog, it looks like it takes a 21.1mm stem.

Wow! Thank you for such great information on this, I have one of those stems (.883) tucked away from a Schwinn build a couple years ago, although it has a rather short reach. I'm in talks with the seller now, will post if I score it or not...do you know if these frames were 120mm rear spacing since they are/were 10 speeds? Thanks again!

Yes; 120mm rear O.L.D. spacing.

Yeah, the amount of idiots on CL greatly outnumbers the amount of good users. Too bad, I would've picked up that frame at that price. Chrome is always cool.

Don't worry, you'll find something else.

I am not an idiot (according to me.) I have a Super LeTour 12.2 that I bought in college. It's a 78 iirc. It is the double butted frame. I have always done my own maintenance. In fact after school, I went into a shop to buy a tool and the manager said, "Yeah, I have one, but do you want a job, most of my mechanics wouldn't know what to do with one."

Anyway, I am selling mine (again, I sold it to a friend once and then missed it and bought it back so he wouldn't sell it to someone else.) I have it posted on St. Louis CL, So, what would be a fair price to ask if it's as described. It has everything but the seat post and saddle. Wheels are fine, hood covers are dry, but sound. The cables/housing and chain are not installed. I was in the process of overhauling/rebuilding yet again and never finished.
It is 25", Silver Mist paint, frame has some minor chips/scuffs, but all the decals are intact, etc. The tires are not mounted and I doubt they are useable at this point.

So, I read the TOS and hope I haven't violated the policy. I see you need a paid upgrade to post FS. And, in keeping with this section's rules, I should have asked, "What's it likely worth?" instead of looking for interest.
Sorry for the faux pas. The idiot reference is now in serious jeopardy.

I know I am a new member. (I swear I think I was on here in the past but couldn't find my emails, so maybe I am refuting my opeing remark ;-) But, I do buy and sell gear on Cave Divers Forum and The Deco Stop and Scubaboard under the same user name and have no negative feedback.
If there is any interest, I can take some current pictures.
(I guess I could start a thread on this, but hate to post FS with no history here.)

This is not a place for selling bikes. Check out the for sale section in C&V and follow the rules there. You will need a price, and pictures will make selling it much more realistic.

Got it. I had corrected that as you were posting, but my fault for not checking the TOS first.

Appreciate the feedback. I agree on the shipping.
I'd be afraid if I aired up the tires someone would try and ride it. Even thought they look okay, not obvious dry rot, etc. I can't believe they'd be safe. They are old enough to vote.
But, I'll report back if I have any luck as a point of reference.

Posting this as a point of reference for vintage sellers

Update ---
Sold/delivered the bike off of CL today for $80

Sold it from series of pictures of frame plus unmounted parts (pedals, shifter cables/housing, freewheel, tires/tubes)
It had no seat post or saddle. I gave them an old Specialized saddle I had no use for, but it isn't a real match for this bike.
(also sold Glenn's Manual, crank extractor and Free Wheel Removal tools for this bike for $12)

Oh and thanks for the comment on the 25", this was wrong and I corrected it after measuring to 23", but the buyer has responded to the 25" post and I wanted to be sure he knew.
