Found this bike in my dad's garage, he wants everything junked but I'm not sure if we should just scrap this. Any ideas if it's worth something, or should we just throw it in the dumpster? The tires are dry rotted awful, but the rest of the bike looks ok, and it even has a little leather bag on the back. it says Rex by Araya on the front and deluxe bicycle on the lower middle bar. It's a reddish orange and looks complete. It's got brake components that say Dia-compe and a suntour power shifter. It also has a sticker on the front forks that says swallow. I posted some pictures in an album on my page. Thank you!

I would be tempted to donate that bike to Goodwill. It does not show much use/wear but it is a lower end bike.

Bike boom bike, and yes, not high end, but it has value to folks who appreciate it for what it is. Junking it would be a mistake in my opinion. Donating it is a good option. I bet it would clean up very nicely.

I would agree the bike while not high end does have a lot of potential and should clean up nice. As is not a lot of value say $100 or so to the right buyer it does have nice paint and good underlying cosmetics.. If your not up for fixing and cleaning it up yourself I would suggest donating it to a local bike coop or charity rather than just tossing it out or selling it cheap as is.

The water bottle cage is a TA Specialties of age and condition, that actually could be worth something.
It appears to have a replacement wheel, probably the back. I think $40 would bring out the right buyer.

Thanks for the appraisals everyone, they've convinced my Dad not to just toss it. We'll probably donate it to a local place. Thanks!
