I might be trading one of my bikes for a Windsor Carrera Sport that is supposedly near mint condition with only one owner. The description includes "I have a very rare windsor made in mexico in 1973 with cinelli copy some of the best bikws were made there. Suntour gt group with sunshine hubs. Almost mint columbus italian steel also." I don't know a whole lot about vintage windsors or the quality of the tubing and stuff, but what would something like this in this condition maybe be worth?

Don't know too much about them.. but I thought the tubing was lower end then that.. I actually own an almost identical frameset.. so hopefully more people chime in.

Sure is pretty. Rough estimate, I could see the pictured bike above bringing $300-350 on craigslist around here. Ebay? No idea, as I don't shop for complete bikes there.

Windsors fail to command big bucks even thought they are very pretty machines. I am not sure why they lack value but I would tend to agree with the price suggested of three to five hundred dollars. And I would buy that lovely old road bike in a heart beat, if it were my size and affordable.

The bicycle actually looks more like a late 1970s Carrera Special. The main external difference was that the earlier Carerra Sport used the 3 pin Sugino Maxy crankset, while the later, Special variant used the 5 pin crankset, as pictured. The Special also had a tange CrMo double butted tubeset, while the Sport had a plain gauge tubeset. While the Windsor Professional and Competition had frames that were Cinelli clones, the Carerra variants were not.

These were a nice upper, mid-range model. While this is a very nice sample, I'd would be very hard pressed to pay $300, even in a hot market. The original selling price for these, depending on the actual year, was $225-$275. A Sport would be a even worse value. They originally sold for about $150 circa 1973.

This looks a lot like my '73 Windsor Carerra Sport; except indelible is that the front chain ring on the bike I had, was with two rings much closer in size.

I've a bike now I believe also an early mid '70s Windsor Carerra Sport; assembled to ride rather than as any collector's item, from an unridable $20 Eureka, CA flea market find, recognized as highly familiar during '97.

I put a three ring Bio-Cam sprocket on the bike a long time ago, given me by a bike store mechanic; so have no idea what was on the bike as found, if anything?

I think hot-rodding 27" wheel size bikes a lot more natural than collecting and/or restoring them, no?

There is an informally run shop locally where they've several paid mechanics on staff with lots & lots of gleaned old 27" parts organized roughly in bins; a person can pick through to purchase for what amounts to a donation, of whatever one may chose as affordable.
