If anyone wants the project fun, I could always paint brush some old grease into the hardest to reach places at no extra charge.

Hi Steve,
I picked up the Paramount from Luis last week. You certainly performed a detailed rebuild and restoration. The quality and condition of most of the components is first class. The bike rides perfectly and is ultra stable while riding hands free.
The bike will be ridden a few times a month in dry weather. I'll change to modern pedals, my size 12 feet are an impossible fit with the originals. I'll also change to vintage Mavic clincher rims.
I must say: the paint is a good, but not great, repaint. It's not apparent in pictures, but it is clearly a repaint to Luis and I or anyone who does any work on the bike. My plan is to ride it for several years and then strip it and have Waterford repaint it Flamboyant Red.
When I sold my repainted Paramount, I advertised it as such. This helps to avoid wasting time with those buyers who insist on original paint. I'm not one of those buyers, but if I was, the bike would have been a major, and expensive disappointment. The buyer of my Paramount was accepting of the factory repaint and payed top dollar. Complete disclosure is always best.
Sincerely,
Michael

I am not sure if you are happy or not? I told you the paint was not original and discussed it with Luis as well as he checked the bike out for you? He seemed to think the paint job was good at the time? I thought I gave full disclosure?

Are you kidding? I have proof that I told you everything. You did not trust me so I had to bring the bike to Luis, who put it on his stand and completely checked the bike out. I told you and Luis that the paint color and decals are from 1974. I linked the thread that I bought the bike from, I linked you the thread were ok presented the bike to the forum, were the color and decals were discussed. I do not know what else I could do for you? Why did Luis give you the ok to pay me if he thought the paint sucked? What did I not disclose to you with all of our messages? I did everything you asked?

I will be the first to admit I am no expert, so if something was not disclosed, it was not on purpose. To me that bike was the most beautiful bike on the planet. There was not a millimeter on that bike that did not get cleaned and polished by me. I thought the paint job was awesome.

Exactly. You've got issues then take it up privately. You don't see us discussing problems with our mother in laws on the forum. Not saying your on the level of a "Mother in Law" Steve. lol. Just bad taste to start complaining in thread IMHO.

I have dealt with Steve on many different transactions and he has always been up front and helpful. Not to mention generous. Since the accusation was made publicly I believe its best that the rebuttal be public as well. I would never hesitate to purchase from Steve. He's a solid guy. Sorry you were accused publically Steve!

I certainly don't have a dog in this fight but after reading the original post, it probably would have been a good idea to disclose the repaint or possibility of repaint in the original post. As a buyer, I'd certainly want to know that when considering a closer look at a top dollar deal.
Still a beautiful bike nonetheless.

Don't discredit the facilitator when the issue is your own lack of transparency.
I accept responsibility for the purchase. You need to accept responsibility for the sale.

Take it off list, please.
There was absolutely no need for this to be discussed on the forum. The proper way to do this is to contact the seller and handle it. The buyer had the opportunity to not buy and did not take it. By doing so I don't think he has any right to bring up any issues, real or perceived, in this forum. Buyer needs to move on. I am sure the seller will be more diligent in his disclosures in the future.

I have had many deals here on BF. Several have been terrible and a few of those have been from long term members. My three purchases from Steve have all been great and very generous.
