I suspect this could be a Huffy or similar triple triangle GT knock off, but the price was right and it was my first mountain bike find. It has Shimano components, nothing very fancy.

GT made frames with that design. I've seen it called something like "Hellenic" seat stays or frame? Anyway are there any serial numbers under the bottom bracket or dropouts? Head badge or holes where a head badge would have been? Is the bike steel or other? Components usually have brand specific date codes on them. On the back side of derailleurs there may be a two letter designation. If you knew the dates of the components, and if the components were original to the bike, then it would at least help narrow things down.

We need more information.

There is an SN on the BB, I'll dig it out tomorrow and comb it over. I'm not certain but I'd almost want to say that paint scheme isn't original either. It is very likely a steel frame going just by weight.

Paint scheme reminds me of this Murray Eagle River. Not a match though.

The thumbnailed bike in the top left has the same seat stays as yours. Unfortunately there's no larger pic because the link is dead. Looks like it is a Murray though. Probably early 90's.

I had a Free Spirit with a very similar frame.

I have a Free Spirit of similar vintage with conspicuous clues pointing to Murray as actual manufacturer.
