Does anyone still produce these big cables? I have faith in the old ones; but I'd rather replace them on a flip....

I have a bunch of front cables that may fit your bill.

Moped clutch cables have same hammerhead ends and seem to be the same gauge. That's what I've been using on my old Stumpjumper.

All of the new ones I have seen are from china you can order them pretty cheap off of ebay so the quality may be suspect. The last couple of older MTBs I re-cabled I just did both the housing and the cables and used the standard 1.6m Jagwire cables, rather than go with used or the ones from china.

1.75 brake cable | eBay
