At the time we bought our first bikes as a couple (Fuji S-10-S), I bought this little kit as well. Shortly after that I built a repair/maintenance stand out of 2x4's and purchased Tom Cuthbertson's "Anybody's Bike Book" copyright 1971.

@Velocivixen, you have a calling.
I don't mean overhauling freewheels. I mean technical photography.

@noglider - ? "technical photography"? I like it. I like that it brings up such colorful & interesting bike (and other) imagery.
@oddjob2 - who is "Hizzoner"? Don't recognize the guy.

Hizzoner was Mayor John Lindsey of the 1960's. He was deeply beloved and then deeply hated. He was insanely handsome in most people's opinions.

I'm quite sure @steviebee163 has some more fine '70s advertising matter for us.

I'm looking at a parallel universe. In the '70s America was still a far away country.

For me, the '70s were mostly about looking forward to this:

Also known as the guy who gave Ma Brady a case of the crabs, according to Florence Henderson's memoirs

I had a 1975 while in college, bought it summer of 1976.

Then when I got to Tulsa in 1978, I bought a Suzuki GS750, with a Vetter fairing, spoked wheels. Rode to work dressed in Black Tie.

Oddjob,

I had one of these -- bought it used in '79, put 10k miles on it with absolutely no issues until it got wiped out by a cager making a left turn...

1976 Yamaha RD400 - and mine was this green color as well...

I got other bikes later - a brand new '82 Yamaha 550 Seca after the RD got totaled, then a used '82 Honda V-65 Sabre fell into my lap a year later...

the '70s was the best decade for music and road bikes.

you could even make a case for '70s films.

but you'd have to stop at '79, 'cause '80s movies generally suck.

I am definitely still living in the 70's.

The greatest decade ever. Still landing men on the moon, the microprocessor was invented and I lost my virginity.
