Campagnolo Mirage components on a Bianchi Veloce?
Greetings all. Tried searching for info but didn't come up with much. Anyone know if Bianchi put Campagnolo Mirage components on latter 1990's (1997?) 8 speed Veloce's with double-butted Dedacciai chromoly tubing? And if so, when? Everything I found shows Campagnolo Veloce components on 8 speed Veloce's. Thanx.
Cheers,
Mark

The 1997 and 1998 Bianchi Trofeo's (Dedacciai tubing) came with some Mirage, and even lower, some Avanti. It works fine, it's just not upper echelon stuff. I took some Avanti Ergos, FD, RD, and calipers off of a 1998, and I'm about to sell a 1997 (all Mirage) for the owner, a 52cm celeste model.
In 1998, it appears Campy made some stuff just for those "retro" bikes. I've not seen the steel FD/RD by Avanti anywhere else, and the calipers look identical to Mirage, so do the Ergos.

I'm admittedly not the knower of *everything* Bianchi, but as far as I know, the 1990s & 2000s Bianchi Veloces were always equipped with full Campy Veloce drivetrain components, except for the front derailleur in a few years.

I have a '97 Campione D'Italia, purchased new, and still with full Mirage. That year, at least, Trofeos did not feature Mirage .

Thanx all. So is this a Veloce? Or something else?
Classic Bianchi Veloce | eBay
It's labeled "Veloce" but has Mirage components. Appreciate the help and info.
Cheers,
Mark

It seems to be a 1997 Veloce, but not with its original components.
(At least they got rid of the ugly welded stem the bike originally came with!)

You are probably right. I will have a '97 Trofeo in here on Monday. All I can remember was that I swapped the crankset from a Miche to a Veloce for her, and took off the hollow Bianchi stem and replaced it with a Nitto that fit her better. I thought the drivetrain was Mirage or Veloce, but it could be, like the '98, Avanti.

I bought a 1997 Trofeo new - it had Mirage Ergos and Avanti derailleurs and the Miche crankset. I swapped the crank for an Athena but the rest left alone as it functioned flawlessly. In 1998 the Trofeo was full Avanti components.

The 1997 Trofeo had Mirage 8-sp Ergos, at least the one in this area does. I found one for a friend, replaced the Miche crankset with Veloce, and the long quill stem with a Nitto. Otherwise, Miche/Campy mix. The 1998 was full Avanti, with an Ofmega crankset (if you got the triple). The levers say Avanti, but look identical to the Mirage from 1997.
