Question: C&V Project Thread
Hi Everyone, I need some advice and some direction. I have an old Schwinn Corvette frame that I want to build into a sweet little bar-hopper/cruiser/single-speed. It will not have stock components when I am finished. I would like to start a build thread for it, documenting the build and how I do it. Would this be the appropriate forum?
In my mind this bike would be like a classic car that would get a fresh motor and new paint, maybe some chrome, and other hot rod stuff, but not all chopped and channeled. Still a classic, just hot-rodded. I looked at the Alt Bike Culture forums, and its really not what I'm about, but just want to build a nice bike to ride with classic lines and conservative looks.
Your thoughts?

Sounds more like a thread for the Cruiser forum, but if it is kept conservative and using correct parts it should fly here. One way to find out though.
Where in NH are you located, if you don't mind my asking? Our son and daughter-in-law are in Durham, he is in grad school there.

Well, the only factory-correct part other than the frame and fork will be the kickstand. Well, I guess I can start it here, and if nobody likes it, then it'll get moved.

I doubt that you'll get any grief from this forum, really helpful, knowledgeable folks here and not to tightly wound up. And, I mean correct only in the sense of not going after any of the currently available faux C&V, or even hipster kind of stuff. Most important thing is that its your bike and your project, do it as you best see fitting for your needs.
Best wishes on the build, should be interesting to follow your thread.

I don't see any problem with posting it here, but it might get more appreciation in the cruiser forum.

We just had a Schwinn Corvette thread in "Appraisals and whats it worth" that had some good discussion. I would encourage you to have look.
Also I would have put Corvette in the title for more traction.

I think I will.
Many have suggested the Cruiser forum, but from what I've seen of the posts over there, they are more concerned with comfy saddles and which Walmart carries the color they want. Not my style.
I think you guys will like what I'll be up to. I'll start a new thread when I begin this endeavor.
