WOW. Something you don't see everyday (In box campy parts.)

Somebody was VERY generous last night at the coop. I didn't go through the box (we were slammed with people), but I did snag a picture of the prettiest thing.

It doesn't all look NEW, some of it is very slightly used, but the boxes alone are cool. Also, since I'm ignorant of campagnolo stuff, I have no idea if what is in the box is that is supposed to be in the box.

The box we got was about the size a typical laser printer would come in. It also came with a classic pinarello bike with mostly Modelo parts on it.

That would look nice on a recently acquired Italian bike...

Wow, an complete NIB SR Strada crankset, oh wow your co-op has a nice donation there. Someone well versed in their value can best tell you about them, I see these on eBay periodically and they fetch a decent price many times.

Is the box in as good a condition as it seems to be? I make out a 54 tooth big ring, please let ups how the small ring size and the arm length if you don't mind my asking.

Congratulations on the donation and kudos to you for working in the co-op, that is first class in my book.

Bill

Inner ring appears to be a 42. Arms are 172.5s.

Yes, the box is in great condition. It's slightly crushed and out of shape, but no water damage or anything that can't be "uncrushed."

The funny thing is, I spied at least one more set in the big box, perhaps a few extra chainrings as well. The other one I saw appeared to be in some sort of half step arrangement?

Unusual to see the 54t big ring, but not unheard of. I got one off off eBay a few months back, I didn't realize it had a 54t ring until it got here. Swapped it to a 52t first thing.

Sounds like your coop got quite a wind fall. Use it in good health.

btw. sorry about the overuse of the w-word

Hm, I didn't even notice that. The other crankset came with a 53 so I assumed this was one too...

The thing is, we won't use it. We don't fix nice enough bikes to justify using it. We'll probably stick it in our display case until someone decides to come in and buy it.

That said, I'd buy the box if I were given a chance.

Sorry for the crappy picture, someone had thrown it up on a rack before I got a chance to picture it.

Besides, it's more fun this way. Identification is too easy for you guys if the pictures are really good.

With that said, it did have a modelo groupset (minus the brake levers, which were included in the box but were bent to crap.)

Unfortunately, it's not my size, I suppose I'll just stick with my Mondonico...

Those Campag boxes boost the prices on eBay, and selling just the box is pretty good business too.

Jeebus you're right. I can find a crankset for $40 on ebay, but the lowest listing for an in-box crankset is $600

I doubt that $600 listing will sell but still....

So your coop has a Pinarello hanging next to a Fat Chance, over boxes of Campy parts. Where is your coop?

Haha was wondering when someone was going to notice that.

Trust me, you only see the very tip of the iceberg. Our coop is mostly older crappy parts and cheap 90s mountain bikes. We get nice things occasionally, but not often.

I'll probably fix up the Pinarello and we'll probably place it up there next to the severely overpriced Fat Chance to live out its days...

Maybe I'll convince them to sell the Pina for a reasonable price, especially since the paint isn't great.

It's hard, people don't come to the coop to buy anything over ~$300 so selling nice things is.... difficult.

Wondering why the OP's Super Record crank has a Nuovo Record inner ring?

Here's my contribution to the party:

Very cool! Love the hubs in box. Again, I have no idea if what's in the box is SUPPOSED to be in the box (or belongs in the box). That's just how we got it.

Oh Yeah, Poor you....I feel your pain having to ride that pitiful Mondonico! out of curiosity whats the number on the Pina?
Just read the other posts on folks not wanting to pay more than 300.00 so what about 310.00?

Hahaha

We haven't even looked at it yet, so we don't have a number. Likely we'll clean it up and adjust it (basically a tune up) and I won't let anyone molest it, then we'll sell it.

What tickles me is the way some of the sellers put the components at false levels, saying its a Super Nuovo Valentino framastator. Throw in a box and its silly asking price time. And, a few of the storefronts are just nuts with their valuations of components. One in particular, that will remain nameless, I bypass looking a their listings out of self-preservation of my sanity.

I hope that your co-op can actually sell the things at a worthy valuation, so they can put it to work.
