My first vintage! — Early 90's Giordana Capella

Came across a vintage Giordani Capella that had everything I was looking for at a fair price — a vintage steel frame dressed with a touch of modern components. The bike does also seem to have a few Campy components too though. It's a 49 cm frame but I am only 5'7" so a few adjustments and the bike should be perfect. I paid $250 plus $100 or so for packaging and shipping, which does feel like a lot, but I fell in love with the bike the moment I saw it so I HAD to have it.

Seller did not list the exact year however, and I'm just curious to find out. Anyone know a thing or two about these frames?

(Photos are from original seller as I've just paid for the bike and am anxiously waiting for its arrival)

Nice find! I love how well these ride. It has the same basic decals as my 1989 Antares. I've got a brochure at the house that lists your model. I'll try and get some scans to you tomorrow. If this is Billato Brothers built like both of mine you can email them the serial number (if there is one) and they'll probably respond.

Here's a few quick scans out of the 1991 Giordana Brochure. I'm betting yours is a year or two earlier.

The Oria used for your year has a different label so maybe different from the info above.

I will say that I find both of mine to be fast, comfortable rides so I guess the shared geometry on these bikes work for me. I'm looking forward to hearing how it rides for you. In my opinion these are underated bikes and a real steal on the used market now. I'm sure you are going to enjoy yours.

Thanks for all the help. I'll update with my own personal photos and how I feel about the bike once I receive it and ride it around for a bit. I'm really hoping the bike does me good.

Nice score! I have a Giordana Scorpius and really like it. It wasn't my first vintage, but it was my first Italian.

My reaction, as well, but I guess one definition of "vintage" is "more than 25 years old," so this may qualify.

My car (1996 Audi A4, first year the model was imported to the US) is getting up there, as well.
