Goes on the chain stay. It is the decal to which Dirtdrop is referring. Deluxe polymer enamel....I believe this refers to the paint.

This sounds promising!! Definitely good to hear. I may be contacting him on some decals for the Shogun. I want the downtube decal to read S H O T G U N. It should be interesting to see if anyone catches it. Being that I'm in South Texas, I'm betting it will be popular, lol. It's going to be a custom job anyway.,,,,BD

That is the chainstay decal I was referring to . I told you it was odd.

Bikedued

You could have your "shotgun" decal made by these guys for 15 cents a letter.
https://www.signspecialist.com/lettering/lettering.html
I don't think these other guys are interested in making one offs.

I told him about it, and he told me that original 531 decals back in the day were often done no better. I have not personally seen any of the originals with this problem, but in any case I was somewhat disappointed with the decals, and probably will never use them, at least on my PX-10. At only $10 or so, it is not really worth the money and effort to send them back to Oz for replacement, which I will say he did offer to do. Oh well,,,
I bought a set of the 70's style Bottecchia decals from Greg. They are very good but not perfect. If I didn't have the originals to compare to I probably wouldn't notice but there are some minor nitpicks. I used some of the decals from the set but left the originals for the big panel decals. The rest are in my desk drawer here in case I ever need them but I'm looking for some better ones for the downtube/seattube panel decals.

Could it be 'émail luxe polymčre'? or 'émail luxe polymčrisé'?

And if these "other guys" ended up making one set of decals ever for a particular bike, wouldn't that make
them one offs? I'd rather NOT send it off to a sign making site, and get back something I didn't like. I know of other sites that have preview software, and the whole deal. I also have a Photoshop 7 software here, I guess I could attempt it myself.,,,,BD

Hi everyone, McDave asked me to post some photo's of my work and I will start with this one (Nishiki). You'll notice a few things about the decals I make. 1.) I personally do not like ghosting between the colors, so I make every effort to eliminate them. 2.) I am very particular about sizing and artwork accuracy. 3.) I use opaque colors, no bleed thru of background colors. 4.) I have over 4000 colors and can reproduce just about any Pantone color accurately. 5.) I die cut around the decals leaving just a small clear edge like the originals had. 6.) The decals can be buried in a UV clear coat.

I specialize in making one off decal sets or single decals. I work from hi resolution photos and reference measurements. I take pride in my work as if it were going on my bicycle.

Send me your address and I will send you a sample.

I want to thank Dave again for the opportunity to serve you all.

Best regards,
JR. Anderson

Did you get the chainstay decal? Italianbiker's white TdF has it. It's the only one I've seen. I can't remember what it says, but I do remember that I thought it was rather odd.

i can get a better pix of it and post it if need be

Hey JR,

Can you do custom stuff? What I mean is, can you make a decal out of any drawing/artwork? I have a two color clip art image I'd like done, but I just need one.....

Thank you JR! I'm looking forward to seeing some of the finished bikes. Your example looks great!

I see you've met Dr. Deltron. Make him happy and you'll have all the work you desire, not just through him, but the rest of us too I'm sure.

Dave

This is great news. I am overjoyed that there is a new decal producer on the scene. I have been waiting a year to get my bike. I have still never seen it in person!

I am looking for decals for
- a Mino Denti
- an old Tommasini from the late 70s (not the same decals as later ones from the 80s and I have never even seen such decals)
Has anyone ever had these made?

Someone told you about the half dozen Nishikis I've got, didn't they .

I'd better get busy on those photos of the headbadges.

~IMPORTANT!!!~

"Custom" here means that you don't have vector file artwork of the desired decal.

If you DID have THAT type of artwork, then "a" decal might run you $10 EACH! or rather, $40-$100 for a whole bikes worth.

CREATING vector art is what gets expensive for the one-off decal customer.
Graphic art services can run from $50/hour to $150/hour!
So add a couple hours to create from your jpeg picture into usable art.
And I bet JR would be happy to do that work as well...for a price!

Now your decals are $200-$400!!!

Or you can get good with Adobe Illustrator and make your own art.
THEeeeN.. send it JR and he'll make you decals!

JUST wanted to point that out, before y'all flooded poor JR with requests.
If you DON'T have vector art, there are no "cheap" decals for YOU!

Those are a very close match! I do notice one difference and you can see it in my Nishiki decal below too. The gold in both of our originals have a metallic finish. I wonder if that is something that you can duplicate JR?

Also in the second photo below, this seat tube band is a gold foil with red. Someone else in this thread was asking about foil decals. Can you reproduce those type too?

Thanks!
Dave

From my long conversation with JR, he can do either gold metallic OR gold foil. Same for silver.
PastorBob's SuperSport will be sporting foil versions of the seattube decals.

And the above posted-about Gitane decals can be done with the silver foil!

So, I have a good feeling that JR is gonna be "our man" for decals!
I hope he's ready to be inundated!

ANOTHER NOTE: If you are NOT going to paint clear OVER the decals, pay a bit more and have the decals printed with the UV laminate. Just a 411.
