Oh it doesn't match? I thought it looked pretty close.

Completed this Lotus Legend after a lot of churn on my winter projects. Frame is Columbus SL hand brazed by Tsunoda in Japan. More of a sport tourer sort of set-up for days when I'd rather just ride than hammer.

This turned out great!

Is that the group from the cheap, wrecked Bianchi last year? (Have a weird memory sometimes, don't remember much of last week but I remember you got a deal on that... Ha)

Good memory! Parts of the Bianchi made it over to this bike (controls, BB, RD, binder bolt, and wheels). The Bianchi was a triple, but I had a nice Chorus double that I liked the looks of a little more, and it was of a vintage that worked just fine with the BB. The hubs are pretty worn, so that played into the decision to put them on this bike that's more of an easy rider. It was $75 well spent however, so consider whoever it was that tipped me to it on the board as thanked. The other parts were from the collection of stuff that I had around, so other than the bar tape (and some new brake pads I'll soon need to replace the ones on there), I really didn't put much new money into this one. Other than cleaning up and overhauling the parts, it's pretty much a build that keeps all the original "patina" of the bike intact.

Some of the other Bianchi donor parts will make it onto my next build, and most of the rest are going on a bike that I'm building as a fast/sleeper campus bike for my friends kid at UW Madison.

Now that it's the end of January, it seems long ago that I picked the Bianchi up in late August

I love the bars on that Lotus. I'd ride the heck out of a bike like that!

I've done the twine on a half-dozen builds by now, and still reference this every time:

Looks good! What tires are those and what size?
They are Clement Strada LGG 700x28. Best all around and do anything tires I have owned. I have done road, gravel, grass, and even a bit of cut through trails on them.

here is an in progress shot:

I decided I won't have the money to spend on a full repaint and new 11 speed awesomeness anytime soon, and I might as well just build up a parts bin version with some stickers on it to hide the paint damage.

I was hoping i could finish today but realized I don't have any cable stops for my downtubes... ghah. forgot about that!

so far:
59cm Look Hinault r753 frameset
Mavic 305 headset
cinelli stem
10 speed dura-ace brifters
11-27t cassette
ultegra cranks & RD
600 tricolor FD
105 black dual pivot brakes
reynolds solitude wheels
bontrager seatpost and drops.

take THAT parts bin!!

I have some red housing which may look good, or may be a bit too much. we will see.

Great looking bike! I was amazed at how "clean it looked. Then I realized it didnt have any cables on it! I'm sure it'll look great even after you pub cables on.

wish I had invisible cables! I put the brake cables on and it looks ok as red. I'll wait until the whole shebang is done before posting any more pics.

with cables! all red, though there has been talk of getting blue and yellow mix. still waiting on pedals - some junk on there now just for testing.

It would look pretty sweet with red, yellow, and blue cable housing to match the bike. Still, looks sweet as is, but not quite as nice as with the "invisible" cables

1983 Schwinn Super Sport Retromod

Well it took me about a year, but here is my "new" bike. Was a black '83 Super Sport that I got on CL for $120. The paint was horrible and could not be saved so I went custom. What do you think?
