Typh00n, moving this thread over to our Classic & Vintage section. I know someone there will be able to help.

Welcome to the forum. Thats a Motobecane from the early 70's. Probably a "Nomad" model. That particular frame style is called a Mixte. Motobecane made very nice bikes. Thats a nice "gift" and with a little TLC would clean up well and be a nice ride. I had a Motobecane in that same color, very distinctive of the early 70's Motos.

Note that values have gone up somewhat since '02.

I have two mirages, one 53cm silver w/black pinstripes and one 62cm bronze w/gold pinstripes. Both have a dealer sticker w/purchase date scribed on them that say 5/30/75 and have the following features: says motobecane made in france on down tube;winged M and 1020 tube stays fork stickers on seat tube, winged M on side of fork, chrome fork crown and half chrome fork legs, suntour compV front and Vgt rear deraileurs, suntour stem mount powershifters, diacomp brakelevers w/suicide, cottered steel crank and steel rings (type?), rigida chromix rims with mallard normandy hubs, suntour 14x32 freewheel, weinmann 999 centerpull brakes. Both are in very good condition (after complete recondition) and I'd be lucky to get $50 each for them. I'd rather hang them on the wall for show and take down to ride every now and then than sell for less than $100 (too many hours spent w/ rubbing compound and 0000 steel wool) LOL...
