Correct you are! I'm still a little confused as to weather it's a 720 or a 728, because the vintage trek website only shows a 728 for the 82 model year. Any experts here that can tell me the diff between a 720 and 728 is?

JK, I'd never do that to a classic tourer. She's gonna get a nice rebuild and road to death.

Really, no need to be greedy. Haven't you "acquired" something like 105 bikes this year???

Last weekend I had a pretty good catch, but forgot all about it. From the flea market. Two sets of the old silver with black stripe ESGE fenders, now known as SKS. No stays, and I don't know the size. I wonder if they're the same, they look like the same rod and 10mm nut like on the newer models. Are they available seperately?,,,,BD

I haven't been here in a in about a week and this is the first place I check, and I gotta say that I really dig this bike very nice score indeed. I have a few that I picked up lately but nothing really worth mentioning,a Jamis explorer MTB beat up,a CCM womans 10 speed, a cheap 24" cruiser great shape and a rideable Roadmaster MTB. It has been slow around here as far as finding bikes and to darn cold for any yard sales and none of my LBS have had anything they are looking to part with so I just started to work with what I have and getting ready for spring and building bikes to flip.

Here are 2 fresh out of a barn today. One is a Motobecane Super Mirage. The other is a Viscount Aerospace. $40 for the pair. I will do a restoration on the Moto, but I'll probably single speed the Viscount and flip it to a hipster.

Nope, it is the replacement steel fork. What a strange mishmosh of parts, Shimano 600 deraileurs with stem shifters!!!

What's a "death fork"? I certainly don't want to be riding one.

Viscount and Lambert bikes originally came with an aluminum fork that was prone to snapping off at the steerer. There was a recall to replace them with steel forks. For full details, Google viscount fork.

They came on some Viscount bikes. One of the, if not "the" earliest aluminum road bike fork. Notorious for breaking loose near the crown if ridden too hard. Most were replaced with chromed steel, but some bikes got a fork with a steel insert/pin. It's difficult to tell which bikes got the improved, but it is a theory after the company was taken over by Yamaha, the improved fork came on all of them. I have a bike with the improved version, I think? I'm not taking any chances though, so I will be putting a steel fork on it before I even attempt to ride it.,,,,BD

I had a nice find today that will provide a fun project. It's a his & hers 10 speed Chicago Schwinn Varsity set. Dusty a dirty... but underneath, they're in great shape! It 's like the layer of grime has protected the bikes! The chrome is coming out shiny new. $35 for both bikes! One of the tires needed replacement, but I had a spare from another bike project.

Here's a related question about posting photos. Has anyone experienced problems with Photobucket? I've been reading recent reports about a big virus problem concerning that site. Something to do with malicious pop up ads that cause bigtime problems for some users of the site. Is there another picture hosting site that's recommended?

In any case, it was a good day with the bikes!

I got a couple of new projects today as well. On a donation pickup i found an '85 fuji team rough paint, colored brown in my size. also in the lot was a bridgestone 300 no idea what year other than the components put it about 3-4 yrs newer than the fuji. the bridgestone is small but almost immaculate. both have prewheels that are really stiff (needs work) i think i will try to flip the bridgestone, and probably ride the fuji. i purchased the pair from our store for $25
