Has the quill seatpost, got the pedals with toe clips and like-new Christophe straps.
Looks to be LX100 Light Action, I've not counted cogs. If it's 6sp, it's going 600EX.
Local guy, wanted it gone. I paid what a seatpost would go for.
My size, but no clue what I'll do with it, besides a makeover.

Nice catch Robbie, guard that seatpost!!

Vonruden 01-21-13 08:24 PM

Not much of a catch, but I saved this old Nishiki from the Garbage truck.

Univega week?

I ended a long dry spell with this $10 thrift store Univega Sportour. Tange Champion butted frame tubes, and overall in good shape other than rotted tires & brake hoods.

Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. It's my size, but I already have a Gran Premio & I just don't think this one would get many miles. If I flip it on CL it'll probably end up in the hands of the hipsters, so I'm tempted to rob the Shimano Arabesque deraillers & shifters & do the SS conversion myself first, or replace them with something not as pretty.

I know this thread is old, but this one just like the one I bought from a guy off Craigslist in Sunnyvale, CA for $280. 58cm, Arabesque Shimano 600 rear derailleur and tube shifters, old Dura-Ace front derailleur. Old saddle, coming apart. I wonder if it's the same... mine has a clip-in pedals though.

I don't know, that would make a fine campus bike for someone. Certainly deserving of better than the trash/recycling pile. I applaud your save!

I rescued this at a LBS today. Not quite sure what it's future will be, but I figure I can part it out if nothing else. Early 80s Pinarello....

This one followed me home today from a yard sale. Just needs a good cleaning and some bar tape etc. A perfect fit for the wife:)

Yeah, that's one of the features that caught my eye, also. I'm not really familar with torpados, but I think it might be a fairly low end model, I'll have to do some checking around. After checking everything for fit/tightness, I lowered the saddle, switched out the pedals, and sent the wife off around the block. She loved it and said it shifted great, Now I get to clean it up, touch up the few chips in the paint, wrap the bars and lube a few areas.

Robert:)

anixi 01-22-13 07:02 PM

^That's just about the nicest/cleanest looking Torpado I've ever seen!

fiataccompli 01-22-13 07:09 PM

I like the Torpado. I think I picked up it's dirty cousin a few weeks ago. Tuesday yard sale? Nice!

sloar 01-22-13 07:10 PM

Man, I would love to rescue a pinarello. And, a yard sale torpado? I need to move.

Here is a Basso with Campy front & rear derailleurs & shifters. Everything else was mostly Cambio and Cambio Rino, cranks, stem, seat post, saddle. Forks were stamped with Cambio and fitted with Modolo Speedy (early version) brakes. Rescued it off my LBS euthanasia truck for $70 and spruced it up with new tape, cables & housings. Extremely light for a 59 cm bike. The Rino hardware is lighter than campy.

^What model Peugeot is that?

Bikedued 01-23-13 09:01 PM

I had to put my cheaters on, but it looks like it says Competition? There's something about that bike that I like, a LOT? Weird because that is my least favorite era of Peugeot paint schemes. It just has that coolness factor, and speaks to me.,,,,BD

It almost looks like the chain needs to be popped, to correct a cross chain that severe! Definitely WAY too short!

cb400bill 01-23-13 09:31 PM

Damn. Beautiful bike!
