Nitto M12 Front Rack Installation w/ Paul Neo-Retro Cantilever Brakes
Hey folks,
Please take a look at this rack install and let me know if it looks correct. I was under the impression that the rack is supposed to sit level. I don't see how it can on this set up. The Paul Neo-Retro canti's use a proprietary mounting bolt to allow for the front rack installation. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

No one cares
so it can't be mounted behind that big nut i see instead of in front of it?
I'm assuming the the rack should be flat too, but I just installed a similar rack on my moto's center pulls and it's at about the same angle your racks is and I have no way I can see to adjust it..

Yeah, if the rack were mounted flat against the canti posts as would be true with conventional canti brakes, it would be pretty close to level. I have no experience with those brakes, so I'm not sure what your options are.

I have some NOS Mafac cantis I can sell you. They aren't even neo-retro, they are retro.
It really looks like those brakes are not compatible with a standard rack. I'd consider calling them and asking what's going on. I'm trying to imagine why they felt compelled to ignore the normal spring holes in the cantilever bosses. Are there competitors to these things? I'm also trying to imagine what they think the purpose of using a hammer on a Mafac cantilever was. A 10" adjustable, yes, but no hammers please.

I have Paul touring canti and a Nitto Campee rack and it's mounted behind the brake, not in front. My front rack is level, but I have special braze-on on the fork.

There are a number of racks available if you are willing to use p-clamps.
The nitto campee
Mark's rack from rivendell
and the Velo Orange Rando rack
I suppose you could get one custom made for the Pauls.
Is it possible you could put a 3/8" spacer in front of the fork crown? Seems like that would
flatten out the rack.
