Just picked up this nice Miyata 1000

Yes!

Been looking for one for a long time now. Believe this is a 1982/1983 model. Going to get this fixed up and take it on a nice, long tour this summer in BC!

Just needs a tune-up as it's been sitting in storage for several years.

Correction - just did some research and it appears to be a 1980/1981 model...

I will!

I'll post some pics this weekend when it's sunny and I get a chance to get outside with the camera.

Nice score.
I've been looking for a slightly later example.

yeah, I understand that the later models have some added features like the seat post braze-on's, etc. but these don't come up often and the price was way too good to turn down.

Looks like it was upgraded to bar-end shifters at some point...

Thanks, guys -

I think i will need some help as this will be a bit of a project bike.

Some of the components have some rust and some need replacing...definitely going to need a new chain, hoods, cables, possibly a rear derailer.

Mostly, though, it just needs a major tune-up! Got it for $200 so I'm not complaining...the frame, fork and wheels are in good shape. It's mostly original, too.
