I always called it ME-LEE, like the old printing presses.
Actually, more like MEAL-LEE.

I used to have a Moto Guzzi Miele GT and always said Mee-Lay. Knowing what I know about Italian it looks like it should be Mee-El-Lay.

It's an Italian word. The exact translation is "Honey."
It is pronounced in a similar manner that the OP described: Mee-EL-É.

I thought it was German name because there is a German appliance manufacturer named Miele. The name of that company is pronounced me-luh.
Anyway, it turns out Miele bikes are made in Quebec. Here's the website.

+1 on the definition. I dont know how to type letters with accents above them so I write it out as 'Mee-yail-ay'

My understanding was that the Quebecois are modeling it after the classic Italian stuff, in which case it's most definitely
me-EY(h)-lay
Mee-lay is a non-word
Ciao Ragazzi! State bene!

This brings back horrible headaches from the "how do you pronounce Tange" thread.

mee-EL-ay. (Some people pronounce it slurred and too quickly as MEE-lay.)
Jim Miele (the company founder) was an Italian-Canadian who lived in southern Ontario. He passed away several years ago, and his brand is now the property of the Procycle Group that also owns Rocky Mountain Bicycles.

Thanks, though, for sparing me from looking foolish calling my bike me-elle, which I've been doing for at least 2 years
