I'm liking the color and frame geometry on this CCM. Price is wacky.

Colnago Master Lux
[h=2]Colnago Master Lux - $1950 (Wellesley)[/h]

Beautiful 2002 Colnago Master Lux made from Columbus Gilco tubing. Full Campy Chorus shifters, drive train and brakes. Low mileage. 53/39 chainrings and 10 speed cassette. Very well maintained. A couple of scratches on top tube including on the "racing man" (pic) and a tiny chip on the down tube paint. No dents. Chrome on chain stays is in excellent condition. Colnago carbon flash fork. Bike is 55 cm c to c seat tube and 55.7 cm c to c top tube. Using the Colnago sizing chart these measurements make this a size 57. Standover ht with 23c tires is 32 inches. Stem is 125 mm. I'm 5'9" tall and swap out the stem for 90 or 100 mm to ride comfortably. Probably best suited for someone around 6 ft tall as configured with original stem. I hate to part with this bike but have too many and need to thin the herd. A new Master is $3200 for just the frame and fork. I'm selling this as a complete bike rather than parting it out. Asking $1950 OBO.

I was looking for a bike to tinker with to learn bike mechanics. I saw this Peugeot bike and thought it was pretty. I made what I thought was a low bid and surprisingly, I won. Then I did my research. It appears that if folkform is correct and that this is a UO8, the bike belongs to the bottom of the food chain. Is this a decent purchase?

U08's are mid-lower end pugs, but they make great rides and great bikes to learn on.

If you can replace the components with aluminum pieces you're off to a good start. Since they don't have derailer hangers you can either go single speed or work something else out. The Mafac brakes are nice, but replace the cottered crank as soon as you can. French BB's are hard to come by, but you might be able to simply replace the spindle and keep the cups.

How do I know all this? This is the bike I learned on. Happy riding!

You got a later year UO8 that doesn't come with cottered cranks (the biggest headache in my opinion when dealing with vintage bikes). Should be a nice rider when cleaned up. As long the frame isn't dented, then you got a great deal.

Click on the link in his post to see the pics of the auction bike! The bike he won from the auction looks to be a mid 80s model, based on the top-mounted shifters on the downtube. And it already has a cotterless crankset AND a derailleur hanger. Being mid 80s, it will likely NOT have French threading anywhere.

He did good!

Lots of sweet stuff in Phoenix!

The seller says the frame has a "shallow dent" but, for $750, it could be worth a look

I can't tell if this is a Chorus or Croce D'Aune group set on this Raleigh but, regardless, it is a great price for the groupset alone

9-speed Chorus and a Grammo stem and some nice wheels on a very nice frame

I am not very familiar with Peugeots but if your aim is to find a decent machine to overhaul and learn about working on bikes I think it looks like a good place to start!

Not always on the radar but might be in the future. Unmolested 50th Anniversary Benotto. Quite a bit of history in the brand
CL - Chicago
Benotto vintage Italian road bike!!!

From the sellers post:
I'm tempted to write a ton about this bike but I think I'll let the pictures do MOST of the talking instead! It has Columbus Zeta tubes, it is equipped with Campagnolo components, and it is a 1981 vintage road bike champagne in color --a special model to celebrate benotto's fiftieth anniversary! (1931--1981) if you know what you are looking at, you will no doubt recognize this as a very special Craigslist offering! Spring cleaning has come, this bike is too small for me to ride, and I don't think it should just be a piece of art on the wall. If it were taken to pieces and sold for parts, I could get more than my asking price, but I don't want to be responsible for the destruction of a true survivor! So, that said, this bike is offered in a completely "unmolested" condition and to the best of my knowledge it is all original except for the bar tape! It has a little "attic dust" and could use a little cleaning and/or a good once over, but it is completely rideable in its current condition and it would be a collectors dream! Just a little info (history, advertizing, and other listings for this model) I found on the web (to save you the hassle).

https://www.flandriacafe.com/2011/11/benotto-dreams.html

https://www.ebay.com/itm/80s-BENOTTO-...item258c7864b3

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1981-BENOTTO...item2338fb59f8

Here's a Blurb about the frame maker:
"Typical of great cycling frame makers, Benotto grew out of the passion of racer Giaciinto Benotto who was 24 years old in 1931 when he established the business in Turin. During their first 20 years, Benotto road bikes were ridden to three world championships. In the early 1950's they expanded into Mexico which led to them now being the leading brand in Latina America."

If you have any questions, or would like to make an offer don't hesitate to contact me. I'm currently reducing my collection (I can only ride one bike at a time... and I've run out of room to keep storing ones that I never take out!) and so I'm eager to see this go to a GOOD home! (but if your idea of a 'sweet ride' means spray painting it purple and putting a neon green crank on it and a set of crappy yellow tires so you can show how unique you are, just like everyone else ridding clown colored bikes, I strongly encourage you to look for a different bike to destroy and I truly hope you'll pass on this deal) but if you are looking for a fantastic original high quality vintage road bike to LOVE, I look forward to hearing from you!
