What does the frame being "way too small for me" have to do with anything? Did you build it up? Is it yours? The seat post height is "ridiculous" because the bike is too small for you? WTF?

No disrespect intended. I was looking at it purely from the standpoint of safety, and perhaps also to draw in additional interest - though what the bike looks like is virtually irrelevant from the standpoint of the cause and Collin, God bless his heart!

Best wishes to this cause (and a respectful salute to everyone who made the build possible), and of course, to dear Collin and his family.

Here's the point - the frame is a small frame. It will appeal only to relatively short statured people which does not include me. I won't bid on it because it is too small for me, that's what it has "to do with". Seat post get placed really high like that when a person has a frame that's too small for them. I see it all the time. Heck, I even did it once. That one is so high it is probably dangerous. I'm glad to hear it was not set up that way except for wrenching.

Surely, it is a nice looking bike. I really like the color.

P.S. - I could not access the ebay ad and description of the cause from where I was, originally. All I could see was the pics re-posted herein. I was commenting on the bike, not the cause. I 100% apologize for the offense I caused.

Have you considered opening a cash donation fund? Paypal works and there are other ways, as well. I don't want the bike but I (and others) might contribute to his health care fund if we had a way to do so. Bidding on a $1k bike that I cannot use, honestly, does not appeal to me. Sending $100 (or whatever) by Paypal might be possible for more people, myself included.

Cute kid. I hope he gets better.

One final post from me, a follow up from RBR, where the bike wasn't criticized, just bid upon.

Collin's Bike...Paying it forward from another Member
I was getting emotional enough about the bike auction seeing what this group of crazy folks has done for the little guy when this came in my PM box from the buyer who I have agreed not to name.

Congratulations of the successful auction, although I'm somewhat disappointed it did no go into 4 figures.

I understand the auctions shows payment through PayPal but I would prefer to send a check for $1K to cover the bike. This way Collin gets all the funds, rather than paying PayPal's fee of 2.9%.

Also, as I mentioned, I do not need another bike, so I suggest you keep the bike and hold another auction after you receive my payment.

There are 2 things that I ask. First is that you ask all to say a prayer for Collin. Second, I do not want my identity to be known.

I'm in shock. Looks like we'll do it again. All I ask is that we give the donor his wish and say a prayer for Collin and let him have his privacy. I'm honored to have you people as friends.

Just three words: classy, empathy, generosity. All rolled into one. By the way, prayers for the lad are a very good way to start the day.
