Though I would add my 1958 Holdsworth Monsoon. Bit of nostalgic trip as I had one when at school and re-built very much as 70's bike, this is more of a mix of original new to give a wider range of gearing. Built from old frame, still need to find the right forks to finish it off.

Mid '70's Holdsworth sports/tourer
I picked this up last summer.
Sold from Bicycle Sport, Toronto, Canada sometime around 1975/6/7 (I'm guessing, based on the rear derailleur which I assume is original) I haven't found anything exactly resembling her in any of the on-line catalogues, so any help identifying her would be greatly appreciated. Not that it matters all that much, the bike is an joy to ride.
Specs:
Serial# 3355
Frame: Reynolds 531 DB throughout. Nervex Pro. lug set. Campag. 1010 dropouts. Braze-on shifter bosses, water bottle bosses, and rear brake cable hanger. 27.2mm seat tube. 41" (1.04m) wheel base. 11" (279mm) BB hight. Slack frame angles and generous fork rake.
Drive: Suntour 15~28 5 speed freewheel. T.A. Cyclo-Tourist 52-36 cranks. Reynold chain. Campag. Rally rear, and Record front derailleurs.
Wheels: Record hubs, Union DB spokes, Weinman Alesa 27" alloy rims.
Brakes: Mafac 'Racer', with black Mafac full coverage hoods. Reg red cable housing.
Contact Points: Campag Record pedals. Brooks Pro saddle. Campag Record 27.2 seatpost. TTT stem. Cinelli Champion Del Mondo bars.
Pretty much as she left the bike shop in '75/76. Tires were replaced by the previous owner, cables and brake pads by me, everything else is original.
Sold at BicycleSport in Toronto - pretty much the coolest bike shop in the city at that time, or so I thought. I might well have walked past this very bike when it was there - I visited that shop all the time.
I Always liked the looks of the TA Cyclo-Tourist crank set. Very light but not the strongest. That's OK. At my age I doubt I'll be bending the chain-rings with my sheer brute power.
The infamous 1st ver. Campag. Rally derailleur - rare for all the wrong reasons.
I've since restored the original Campag Stainless Steel gear housing.
The only good reason for Fancy cut lugs - flash.
I don't really like handle-bar bags, but I'll leave it on anyway.
Home made water-bottle bosses

Wow. That is a stunner, and in really great original shape. If you intend to ride it a lot, maybe keep the Rally for safekeeping, and swap in a Suntour GT of some stripe.

I thought the same thing too. I remember changing lots of broken Rally's way back when. She has a good dependable VGT-Luxe on her for now, until I can locate a long cage Cyclone.

Suntour Vx-GT's and Vx-S's are also great RDs, and much less $$ than Cyclones.

Sun Tour GT works very well on my 1965 Dilecta. Hope to find something more fitting in the future. Purchased bike as a "fixie" with an assortment of components.

Very nice combination of original and modern, and good to hear about "fixies" being returned back to multi-geared for a change.

Wow, thanks. I'm very lucky to have come across it.
I know, but they're just so darned nice looking. However, I'm happy to wait a long time to find one at a reasonable price.

Thank you. I think I've found a really great community here.
I'm OK. There's a bike co-op (https://web.facebook.com/OurCommunityBikes?_rdc=1&_rdr) just a few blocks from where I work, and I found a super nice Suntour Fuji Vx there. I have a serious weak spot for the 1st. ver. Cyclone (my favorite derailleur ever), but the Suntour Vx is on on the bike now, and will keep the Rally safe until a Cyclone comes my way... at a resonable price. Thanks again.

Holdsworth not a Holdsworth
Yes thanks, I wrote it! From my subsequent research and chats with Jason at Brian Rourke Cycles I established that Holdsworth most likely re-badged the previous season Brian Rourke frames. As these were pro-rider frames, very rare.....but I have one. So when is a Holdsworth not a Holdsworth?, when it's a Brian Rourke....

My thoughts;
Using Dave Scrimshaws frame numbering table places #3355 as 1973/1974 as it appears to fit in the serial system used for factory custom order frames during period 1970 to 1975 inclusive. There's only been 18 examples of this system collected to present (highest thus far is 4905). It remains unclear whether numbers were allotted purely sequentially or whether 1st digit perhaps represented the year. I'd favour the former. The explanation of a custom Holdsworth ordered by Bicycle Sport would explain the absence of catalogue models with Nervex lugs. Nervex lugs were still being used by other builders as Mercian and into the 90’s.
