Oddest frame at the Chesterfield swap meet
Meant to post this last week, but it slipped my mind (what's left of it) .
Middle of the afternoon, things are dead, and a guy shows up with one of the 24k gold plated Lambert frames over his shoulder. Trying to figure out how to replace the bottom bracket bearings. We had a long talk on the subject, I gave him the compilation of all the advice I've ever received or heard.
The frame was beat - it looked like the gold plating was going to start peeling off any time now. Still had the original downtube decals on it. And, he was willing to sell it. For $300.00.
Yeah, I want an original Lambert someday, but not THAT bad. It was, however, only the second gold frame I've ever seen (the first was at TOSRV 1975).
