vianelli 1981 super record

hi,as another member suggested to me i'm here for tell the story of my vianelli!
vianelli name is for vianelli pierfranco https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierfranco_Vianelli
after the pro career he started to build bike in brescia (he still work)during the early '70 maybe today he don't build the frame like years ago but only buy & sell....anyway this bike are shure made by pierfranco during the early '80!columbus tubing (probably sl) and a full campy SR exept the brake levers that are NR the frame was re-painted during the early '90,originally was a one color red.i recently changed the pedals with look old type and put on an older cycle computer sachs huret, the wheel have original hubs but i changed the rims for mounting a clincher....originally mounted mavic or 10(that i still have on garage).regina 6 speed freewheel, everest superlight chain and now a concor supercorsa saddle.maybe outside italy vianelli it's not so famous but he know well how to make a frame!in brescia there's was another great framebuilder piero serena....he was the top (died some years ago) hope you like it and of course if you have some question about the bike....i'm here

I did a little detective work , by chasing a shop crest that was on the frame ,the bike shop is in Scarborough and the head mechanic Bobby informed me the owner of the shop (d'ornellas) used to race these machines back in the day , the particular model I have sold for $1800 new in 1974! The same chap turning wrenches said the machine could well be worth $3000 , so I am still confused as very few people are familliar with this bike

Thanks Rolls, I have never seen a Vianelli before. Thanks also for the quick history of Vianelli too. It looks like a nicely built frame with a great grouppo. I have never seen the computer before either.

Nice stuff. The Grandis looks great also.

$150-200 seems like a pretty good deal for a well made Italian SL frameset with good paint, but I know zero about the brand.

in the past i had sell 2 Vianelli, both in japan and more or less for 200$ (frame only with average good paint condition) shure if the frame is perfect size and the buyer like the color is easy to take more money.
IMPORTANT THING..... MANY MARINONI ARE IN FACT VIANELLI :-)

I used to race against Eon back in the day and unlike myself he was good enough to get sponsorship. He did not therefore need to pay for his own bike like us plebes. He therefore rode what he was given. I do not remember him ever using Vianelli frames. Eon did import some bikes for resale in the shop and it could very well be that he imported Vianelli bikes. Furthermore, I can assure you that no Vianelli sold for $1800 new in 1974; perhaps in 1984, but not in 1974. As to the present day value, a $3000 value is simply day-dreaming. Values of bikes are generally impacted by the name recognition of the brand, their overall quality and their perceived historical significance. The Vianelli brand is not known outside of a select region in Italy, their overall quality while better than average is not earth-shattering or other-worldly and does not feature any specificities that cannot be found on untold other frames, and they do not have any particular historical significance as they were not used for special feats nor showed the way forward due to particular features. They therefore provide for what can generally be excellent performance for a relatively inexpensive outlay of money.

Yep, nice bike in the pics.

I would have a hard time believing $1800 in 1974 though. You could buy a Raleigh Pro for ~$400, a Masi for ~$500 back then. Frejus around the same. I know those probably aren't quite in the same class, but seems to be a stretch.
